Dear Colleagues,
I am honored and excited to lead the International Society of Refractive Surgery, a partner of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), in 2010 and 2011.
ISRS has long been at the forefront of refractive innovation and is comprised of leaders of refractive surgery worldwide. In 2010 and 2011 we will reinforce and build on our reputation as the leading global society for refractive surgery. In addition, we will continue to strengthen our connection with cataract, corneal and lens-based research, education and leadership.
As a member of the ISRS, you currently receive a wide variety of benefits, from cataract and refractive clinical education (on the ONE Network) and the Journal of Refractive Surgery to a reduced rate for Refractive Surgery Subspecialty Day at the AAO Annual Meeting and vast a network of leading refractive surgeons around the world.
Over the next two years we will expand and capitalize on these members benefits. Already, members are actively engaging on the ISRS online forum – presenting cases and sharing treatment options. If you are not already participating in the forum, I strongly suggest you register and join in on the conversation.
Through the ISRS International Council we will identify the wants preferences and needs of ISRS members and invest our resources accordingly. We aim to be the recognized source and resource for expertise and innovation in refractive surgery. To do so, we will be creating a detailed and focused strategic plan designed to serve our mission and build on the wealth of knowledge already represented by the ISRS membership.
In 2010, ISRS will be participating in five , from Saudi Arabia to Paris, in addition to Refractive Surgery Subspecialty Day: ISRS Annual Meeting in Chicago. On behalf of the ISRS executive committee, thank you for your membership and we hope to see you at an ISRS symposium this year.
Sincerely,
Alaa M. El Danasoury, MD
President, International Society of Refractive Surgery
